One of the most iconic villages in Provence.

About the village

Gordes is one of the most well-known hilltop villages in the region and, due to its privileged position and exceptional charm, has been named as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is no wonder that Gordes is a hub for art lovers, with its stone buildings perched on the cliffs offer sweeping views of Provence.

The weekly market is on Tuesday mornings

Village de Bories

Just beside Gordes is the Village de Bories, an ancient hamlet of all dry-stone buildings: an incredible collection of houses, walls, barns and a variety of other enclosures, including a period silk-making shop. They were used by shepherds and hunter to shelter from the elements.

Must See & Do!

Below we've made a shortlist of our favourite things to do in St-Rémy.

Below we've made a shortlist of our favourite things to do in Gordes.

Church and Castle
Set atop the village facing out onto the hills of the Luberon with beautiful panoramic views.

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque
Hidden in the green valley, Cistercian monks still live there producing honey, lavender essence, and liqueurs. The whole twelfth century edifice is open for visits.

The cellars of the Saint Firmin Palace
Troglodyte halls, cisterns, underground stairways, olive oil mills, build under the houses due to small amount of land area available in the town. In the summer, it is cool underground so it is a refreshing to visit on a hot day.
