Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

The beating heart of the Alpilles Natural Park.

About the village

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a busy, active village, with a good selection of restaurants and shops of all kinds. The village is rich with history, from the historic centre, medieval buildings and cobblestone streets to the Roman ruins within close walking distance of the town. The beauty of this village has inspired many painters across the ages, most notably Vincent Van Gogh, who throughout his time in Saint-Rémy painted two of his most notable works: 'Starry Night' and 'Self-Portrait.'

Staying in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence promises enjoying the magnificent landscapes of the Massif des Alpilles, the numerous vineyards and the close by villages such as Les-Baux-de-Provence and Eygalieres.

The Market

Wednesday, 8am-1pm in the Historic Town Centre.

Sprawling through the historic town centre, St-Rémy market is the definition of French culture. From locally produced groceries, fish and meat, to clothing, artisanal pottery and much more. The sights and smells of the market are an unforgettable part of any visit to Provence, and the stunning architecture makes this a market not to be missed.

Between the endless winding streets of market stalls, the great choice of bars and restaurants and plenty of other shops and amenities to grab your attention, it's easy to make a whole morning or full-day adventure out of St-Rémy market day.

We recommend arriving early and parking here.
